WHAT MAKES THE MT64 SHOCKS STAND OUT?
The Old Man Emu MT64 shocks are one of the largest monotube shocks on the market, featuring a 64mm piston inside a 2.8-inch body. That extra size allows it to hold more oil, which improves cooling and keeps performance consistent, especially during demanding use.
Inside, the high-flow digressive piston works with an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) to keep the oil and nitrogen gas separate. This separation matters because when the two mix, it creates foaming inside the shock. Foaming leads to inconsistent damping, meaning the shock won’t respond the same way every time you hit a bump or push into rougher terrain.
By preventing that mix, the MT64 maintains steady damping even under stress like if you’re hauling heavy gear, traveling long distances, or driving through rough trails. In these more demanding conditions, heat builds quickly, and can thin the oil and cause performance to fade.
