OME BP-51 BYPASS SHOCKS - ADJUSTABLE, RACE-INSPIRED PERFORMANCE

The Old Man Emu BP-51 Bypass Shocks are OME’s most advanced suspension option, engineered to deliver comfort on pavement and control in off-road conditions and rough terrain. Designed in-house by ARB’s ride control engineers, these internal bypass shocks bring race-inspired technology into a bolt-on package that’s tuned specifically for each vehicle platform.

WHY BYPASS TECHNOLOGY MATTERS?

Most standard shocks work the same way all the time, they let oil move through a single piston valve to control how your suspension reacts. That means they won’t change much no matter what you are driving on.

The BP-51 shocks take a different approach with an internal bypass design. Inside the shock body are extra passages that allow oil to move around the piston at certain points in the travel. During light suspension movement, such as driving over paved roads or smoother dirt roads, fluid flows easily through these passages, keeping the ride comfortable. As the suspension compresses deeper over larger impacts or off-road obstacles, those bypass passages close.

This forces more fluid through the piston, increasing resistance and providing greater control right when it’s needed most, especially when going at higher speeds.

This is called position-sensitive damping. That’s the advantage of internal bypass shocks: they adjust automatically based on what your suspension is doing. You’ll have both comfort for daily driving and control out on your off-road adventures.

FULL CONTROL WITH ADJUSTABILITY

Another standout feature on the BP-51 shocks is our 10 stages of compression and rebound adjustment. The BP-51 lets you fine-tune your suspension without removing parts or crawling under the vehicle with tools. It’s as easy as turning the external adjuster dials to match your setup.

HOW WILL ADJUSTABILITY BENEFIT YOU?

Compression: Controls how quickly your suspension compresses, helping prevent bottoming out when carrying extra weight or driving aggressively.
Rebound: Manages how quickly the suspension returns to full length, keeping tires planted and traction consistent.

You can adjust compression and rebound independently, right on the shock. That means you can tweak your setup for different terrain, loads, or even weather conditions whenever needed.
WHY CHOOSE OME BP-51 SHOCKS?

WHY CHOOSE OME BP-51 SHOCKS?

For drivers who demand the most from their suspension, the BP-51 delivers versatility that other shocks can’t match. They’re designed to support heavy modifications, do long-distance travel, and allow you to explore technical trails while still providing a comfortable ride during daily commutes.

Every kit is vehicle-specific, meaning the shocks are pre-tuned to your platform for optimal performance right out of the box, no guesswork required. And because they’re fully rebuildable, your investment will last for years.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

With proper care, BP-51 shocks typically last 55,000–65,000 miles before being rebuilt. This kit is fully rebuildable, and our team is available to answer any questions about the process.
ARB offers BP-51 suspension kits for popular 4x4 platforms including Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Wrangler, and many more. Each kit is engineered specifically for its platform to ensure perfect fitment and performance.
Yes. With BP-51s you can dial in your suspension to match your build.

We offer different spring rates (light, medium, and heavy load) to support everything from a stock vehicle to rigs equipped with heavy bumpers, winches, or full overland setups. On top of that, the coilover preload can be adjusted to fine-tune ride height and compensate for added constant weight.

Once springs and preload are set, you can use the 10-stage independent compression and rebound adjusters to tailor how the suspension feels on pavement, trails, or under load. The result is a suspension system that’s fully customizable to your rig today and adaptable as your build evolves.
